Tomes Community Guidelines
We’re building a space where the world’s greatest stories live on. Since our library consists of public domain works—books that belong to everyone—we want our community to feel just as open and welcoming.
To keep Tomes a great place to read and hang out, we ask that you follow these simple guidelines:
1. Be Kind and Respectful
We’re all here because we love literature. It’s okay to disagree on whether a classic is a masterpiece or a snooze-fest, but keep it civil.
- Do: Critique the writing, the characters, or the themes.
- Don't: Harass, bully, or use hate speech against other readers.
2. Write Meaningful Reviews
Your reviews help others decide what to read next.
- Quality over quantity: A few sentences on why you liked (or didn't like) a book are better than "it was okay."
- Keep it clean: Please avoid excessive profanity or graphic content in your reviews.
- No Spoilers (without warning): If you’re discussing a major plot twist in a classic, give your fellow readers a heads-up!
3. Connect Authentically
The "Follow" and "Invite" features are there to help you build a circle of book-loving friends.
- Don't Spam: Please don't use the invite system or follow feature to advertise products or blast people with unwanted links.
- Be Yourself: Don’t impersonate other users or authors.
4. Respect the Classics
While these books are in the public domain, the effort to digitize and share them is a community service.
- Please don't use the platform to distribute or link to pirated contemporary works.
What happens if the rules are broken?
We believe in a "friendly nudge" first, but if a user consistently ignores these guidelines, we may remove specific reviews or, in extreme cases, suspend the account.
Happy reading,
The Tomes Team
